IVF FAQs
Answers to common IVF questions: cost, success rates, process, age limits, EMI and more — from the specialists at Eshan IVF Hospital.
How long does an IVF cycle take?
One IVF cycle typically takes 4–6 weeks from the start of ovarian stimulation to pregnancy testing. Egg retrieval is usually done after 10–12 days of stimulation; embryo transfer happens on Day 17–20 (fresh cycle). Frozen embryo transfers can be done in later cycles for convenience.
How many IVF cycles might I need?
Some couples conceive in the first attempt; others may need 2–3 cycles depending on age, egg/sperm quality, uterine health, and medical history. Success rates improve when frozen embryos or genetic testing are used. Dr. O.P. Bishu will help create a personalized plan after reviewing your case.
What are the success rates of IVF?
Below 35 years: 40–50% per cycle. Age 35–40 years: 30–40% per cycle. Above 40 years: 10–20% per cycle. Using donor eggs improves success in older women.
Can IVF be used with donor eggs or sperm?
Yes, IVF can use donor eggs, sperm, or embryos when there are fertility issues with either partner. Donor programs follow Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) guidelines for safety and ethics. Dr. O.P. Bishu will explain all options in detail before starting treatment.
Is IVF painful?
Most steps are minimally uncomfortable. Egg retrieval is done under sedation so you feel no pain. Embryo transfer is quick and painless like a simple check-up.
How much does IVF cost at Eshan IVF?
Standard IVF starts at approximately ₹1,25,000 per cycle. ICSI, PGT and freezing add-ons are transparently priced. See the IVF Cost page for full details.
Do you offer EMI options?
Yes, we partner with leading banks and NBFCs to offer EMI for treatment costs. Ask our patient coordinator during your consultation.
What is the age limit for IVF?
Under India's ART Act, IVF is permitted for women aged 21–50 years and men aged 21–55 years, but the earlier the better. Your doctor will guide you based on ovarian reserve.
Do I need to be admitted during IVF?
No admission is required. Egg retrieval is a day-care procedure of about 2–3 hours. All other visits are outpatient.
Can working women manage IVF alongside a job?
Yes! Most patients continue to work throughout their IVF cycle. Only 1–2 days of rest are typically needed around egg retrieval and embryo transfer.
